Robert Fettgather

Dr. Robert Fettgather - Background in Psychology and Special Education

An associate professor in the psychology department at Mission College, Dr. Robert Fettgather has taught courses such as developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and general psychology for more than 35 years. Dr. Fettgather also spent 25 years as a teacher at Agnews Developmental Center in Santa Clara, California, through a developmental center based community college program. There he worked to help individuals with developmental disabilities in areas such as language development and sensorimotor skills.

Dr. Fettgather holds a doctorate in psychology and master’s degrees in both psychology and education. A member of organizations such as Psychologists for Social Responsibility, he has received Santa Clara University’s Certificate of Recognition for Published Work. Dr. Fettgather’s writings have been published in the Transactional Analysis Journal and Voices: The Art and Science of Psychotherapy.

Outside of work, Dr. Fettgather enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. A student of meditation and Buddhism, he co-founded the Tashi Lhunpo Sangha and meditation group in 2011. As a way of of supporting spiritual connection and the community, he led discussions with the group for 7 years.
